
Today, in an historic decision, the High Court of Trinidad and Tobago has struck down as unconstitutional the longstanding, homophobic “buggery” law, most often used to criminalize same-sex intimacy between consenting adults.

Discrimination and legalized hate against LGBQTI people must never stand.
We will continue to work with our partners in the Caribbean to see an end to these terrible laws, which fly in the face of international human rights standards. Our similar challenge in Jamaica, now before the court, should only be strengthened by today’s groundbreaking decision.
